Life of an entrepreneur- what one does in Tech startups

May good things happen to good humans, who want to be entrepreneurs. I pray they’re able to succeed in their dreams and bring a good idea to life. A good creation brings happiness for everyone.

The world is a better place because entrepreneurs exist. After graduating from college, me and my batch mates worked for various companies, all created by entrepreneurs. It was an amazing feeling when we got our first salaries. An economy thrives if it nurtures job creators. There are people who have to be in a job, as they have financial constraints. Then there are people who want to startup and wait until they crack the right idea. Finally there are those who make their startup dreams come true.

I really feel glad when I see someone doing things for the betterment of others.

The best part about being an entrepreneur is that you can create a company which makes life easier for others. Like how Google made search easier and Microsoft made PC software commonplace. A purposeful life always leads to inner joy. Of course, it has its own share of challenges involved. Success is not a straight line. Yet, success is definitely possible. For that you have to work hard and also plan well.

If you ever wondered what goes in the life of an entrepreneur, then here are a few things that happen.

  • Client sends payment. You feel happy that it’ll be used for giving salaries to people who’ve given their time to your company. You feel good when you see them wearing new clothes to the office, with that money.
  • Your team works hard along with you and sales are at an all time high. You feel happy handing over bonuses to the team. Also, you’ll now be able to take the team for an outing in a hillside resort.
  • One of your team members gives presentation in a local meet-up. You feel very happy seeing him do that. You remember hiring him right after college, it was his first job. He learned a lot and also made others learn new technologies. You took a risk and it worked out as he became the right fit.
  • You get into conversation with someone who previously worked for a big company. She remarks how she learned so much here which expanded her horizons. She adds she’ll always be grateful to you for this opportunity.
  • Client is happy with work done by your team, that they give a 5 star review on Google and social media pages.
  • You know that your team member made an unintentional mistake. You sit down with him and discuss the issue, in a polite manner. Forgiveness to good humans, results in betterment.
  • You let people freely access the Internet and celebrate festivals in office, at the same time ensuring their responsibilities as a model citizen.
  • You devise policy where people know what they have to deliver on time, and in remaining time they can enjoy.
  • You make your team understand that they are customers too, and that anyone who’s invested their money should get its worth.
  • You read news that recession could be coming. So you think on how to manage things in a way that essential people will continue to do business with you.
  • You show the office to your parents and they feel happy seeing your progress.
  • Your team is brainstorming on topics for the company blog. You decide to share your own stories, so that people will learn useful things from your struggle.
  • Your relative comes to you for job. So you ask your team to do professional interviews without you in the picture.
  • You attend marriage of a team member. She introduces you with great regard, to her husband and parents. You hand over a Shagun and wish them the best.
  • A new sweet shop opens in town. You go there and find out what’s their best item. Then you buy a box and share it with the team. So that they can also enjoy the delicious experience.
  • You come back from travel and show photos to the team. This way they see the place even without going there. You wish that they work hard and also go to the kind of place they truly want to see, in their lifetime.
  • Sitting with them once in a while for meals and telling them about financial management. It’s not simply important to earn money, also it’s essential to know how to maximise returns. Because you want your team mates to do well in their lives.
  • It’s Diwali and you send wishes to your customers. Because you cherish the fact that they gave your company a valuable chance, to add value to their organisation.
  • Sometimes you do mock-ups. Sometimes you code. Sometimes you perform QA. Sometimes you assist the team with digital marketing. Always you tell the team that they’re not alone when you’re with them.
  • You feel gratitude when you’re in a team meeting and realise that everyone in the room is smarter than you.
  • People ask you for startup advice. You encourage them to be positive, think deep, analyse the market, live your life and improve the things around you. You advise them that idea alone won’t make it successful, for its execution that matters.
  • You go to a college for seminar. People ask you how it’s being an entrepreneur. You say that it’s wonderful to follow your heart and make money from it.

So many wonderful things can happen, once you startup and become an entrepreneur. And the best way to ensure success is to

  1. Plan
  2. Be positive
  3. Work hard
  4. Stay focused
  5. Never give up
  6. Enjoy
  7. Thank god at all times
